🌟 National Journalism Day Message from the City Journalist Academy
“For a New India, the Viksit Bharat, We Need a New Kind of Journalism — Conscious, Compassionate & Citizen-Centred.”
~ Gopi Krishan
The National Press Day, observed every year on 16th November to celebrate the role of a free and responsible press. The day commemorates the establishment of the Press Council of India, which began its operations on this day in 1966. Since its inception, the Press Council has functioned as an independent moral watchdog, working to uphold high standards of journalism and protect the press from external influence and threats.
As this year’s theme focuses on safeguarding press credibility amidst rising misinformation, highlighting the growing importance of accurate and ethical reporting, we at City Journalism Academy feel that the common man, the conscious citizens must come forward and start taking active role in collecting, highlighting and disseminating the right information at the ground level. National Press Day serves as a reminder of the crucial role the Citizen Reporters plays in strengthening the country’s democracy.
📰 National Press Day Message
By: GOPI KRISHAN, Co-Founder, City Journalist Academy | Nation First. Community First. Citizen First.
Today, on National Press Day, we bow to the great tradition of Indian journalism—
a tradition that has always stood for truth, people’s voice, and nation-building.
But today, more than ever before, India needs a new force of journalism.
Not only reporters in newsrooms.
Not only anchors on TV.
Not only media houses in metros.
Not only Digital Creators in Social Media Platforms
India needs Conscious City Journalists | the everyday conscious and alert citizens who observe, document, report, and participate in shaping their city growth and development.
🌼 National Press Day: A Promise to India
Let us celebrate National Press Day not just as a date…but as a declaration.
A declaration that:
✔ We will raise our voice for the voiceless.
✔ We will highlight issues that matter.
✔ We will appreciate those who serve.
✔ We will unite communities with information.
✔ We will build cities that are safer, healthier, and more humane.
✔ We will become the eyes, ears, and conscience of society.
For our City.
For our People.
For our Bharat.
